WHEN:

January 26th, 2016 – 7:00-8:30 PM

WHERE:

8920 Business Park Dr # 250, Austin, TX 78759

DESCRIPTION:

Since Goleman’s seminal work, Emotional Intelligence, we have become increasingly aware of the central role of empathy and social skills in fostering fruitful and dynamic relationships in the work place; but we continue ill-prepared to deal with “disturbing” emotions (jealousy, shame, anger, vindictiveness, chronic discontent, etc.) whether our own or those of others. Latest stats on stress show that 8 out 10 Americans experience high levels of stress at work—suggesting the range of highly charged emotions that burst out or are repressed at great cost to personal and organizational/social health. Recent British stats show that 45% of staff regularly lose their temper at work and 65% of office workers have experienced office rage. These emotional strains are carried over into the home, and/or from the home into the workplace in escalating cycles of self-defeating mental/emotional patterns. What we seem to struggle with most on the emotional intelligence scale, is what psychologists refer to as self-regulation, the ability to control or redirect disruptive impulses.

Caroline teaches that the way out of emotionally draining cycles is through the Heart—the Heart as both the physical organ and the Spiritual Center.  She teaches about the transformative effect of embracing disturbing emotions, decoding the messages they carry from our hearts, and integrating their energies into creative action.
